The legend of the Champion has so many different sides to it, all to be told, providing outstanding material for talks.
At Palazzo Monferrato, Alessandria, several appointments have been scheduled around the champion:
Coppi da record con Moser, an excursus conducted by Dario Ricci from Radio24, which looks back at the incredible results achieved by the Heron, as Coppi was known, accompanied by shots from the award-winning docufilm Scacco al tempo. This will be followed by Pedalando tra le Colline Tortonesi, a tasting-dinner with the characteristic wines and cuisine of Tortona, in collaboration with Consorzio di Tutela Colli Tortonesi and Consorzio Strade del Vino, on Friday 12 April at 6:00 p.m..
Another appointment, on Friday 3 May at 6:00 p.m., is Coppi da Museo, in which Franco Bortuzzo from RaiSport presents the exhibition-event Musei del Ciclismo, scheduled to take place in San Daniele del Friuli, as part of We like bike, from 4 to 9 June.
The only appointment in the province of Cuneo, in the town of Cuneo itself, will be taking place on Tuesday 21 and Wednesday 22 May. A meeting with touring-cyclist Paola Gianotti, “Il giro di Paola”, ambassador of the two-day event to promote road safety awareness. With the participation of Marco Cavorso, father of Tommy, who was killed by a reckless car-driver who overtook another vehicle in a no-overtaking zone.
The last appointment in the spring calendar “Un uomo solo al comando”, is planned for Wednesday 22 May at 9:00 p.m. at Museo dei Campionissimi in Novi Ligure. The events start up again in October, with the conference of the Società Italiana di Storia dello Sport “Coppi, la storia del ciclismo e della bicicletta”.
In summer we’ll be making way for some sentiment, with Coppi nel cuore, beginning with the book La mia vita con Fausto (Daniela Piazza), an intimate diary of Bruna Ciampolini (Mrs Coppi), written with Franco Rota, on Thursday 4 July, at 6:00 p.m. at the Enoteca Regionale di Ovada e del Monferrato.
