CALENDIMAGGIO E FESTA DELLE IDI DI MAGGIO 2024 - 42ª EDIZIONE RIEVOCAZIONE STORICA MEDIOEVALE

The customary appointment with the 14th-century mediaeval historical re-enactment of the small Canavese village, enveloped in the mediaeval atmosphere of its 14th-century Torre Porta, is renewed. The famous Canavese historical re-enactment proper will begin as tradition on Wednesday 1 May with the Calendimaggio, or 'May Day'. On Friday 3, the Medieval Dinner will be prepared at the Consul's table (reservation required); onSaturday 4 , Maggiando, traditional Occitan folk music by "Li Barmek", will be performed; Sunday 5 is the turn of Ricetto diVino, organised by the canaVeis association. On Saturday 11, from 7 p.m., Receptum, a real journey through time, is staged. The climax of the festival is reached on Sunday 12 with the Ides of May, a medieval festival that for the whole day will transform the streets of the town into an ancient village, with the Flag Tournament and Messer Chef, the 8th Medieval Cooking Tournament: aspiring chefs will have to try their hand at preparing delicious dishes with the ingredients and tools of the past; from 7 pm. 00 the 'Locanda a casa Gilda' opens, to refresh oneself while waiting for the Popular Theatre in the evening and the final act of the re-enactment: the May Day Calata.
